infraBuild

The thermal integrity of buildings is becoming increasingly important as governments apply pressure on communities to reduce CO2 emissions.

If we put aside the various arguments on global warming, there are sensible and commercial reasons for wanting to ensure our buildings are functioning to their required specification.

Heat loss through windows, doors, walls and roofs means that our energy bills are higher than they ought to be. By identifying where heat loss is occurring we are able to reduce or even prevent the loss by carrying out remedial works and so minimising our energy bills, at the same time helping to lessen our demand on the world’s limited resources.

infraBuild is our dedicated building service set up to help provide building owners with the ability to identify, control and monitor potential problems internally and externally.

These are just some of the services HDS provide and they can be applied to residential, commercial and industrial buildings.

One of the quickest and cheapest ways to start reducing heat loss in your building is to carry out proper draught-proofing. Using our thermal cameras we are able to identify heat loss through badly fitting doors and windows. We are also able to perform quick inspections on new and old double glazing windows and doors to confirm their efficiency.

The use of thermal images in certifying the energy performance of a building is currently not mandatory; however these heat images can be invaluable in detecting the true energy efficiency of a building.

Using some of the most advanced thermal imaging equipment from Flir Systems, HDS surveyors, who are qualified to a minimum of Level 1 in Thermography, will carry out full or partial thermal surveys, both inside and outside of a building. The extent of a survey will be governed by a client’s requirements and the nature of the problem.

Although the thermal images are instant and can give us an initial indication of the problems, full analysis of the findings will always be carried out back at the office, utilising Flir advanced analysis software.

In presenting our reports we prefer a face to face meeting, at which we can talk through our procedures and detail the findings. A full colour written report will always be submitted in printed format as well as a PDF file.
